The
Ning to fly the British flag instead. Thus she did not submit to inspection but went on direct to Wuchow. rest of the ships plying between Hong Kong and Wuchow, such as the Tai Hing, the Ko Chow, the Wing Hung, the Sun Ning, the Kwong Fun and the Kwong Ying, will now be under the protection of the British gunboat, and by changing their Chinese flag to a British one will be able to sail straight on to Wuchow and will not be
subject to inspection.
After this incident, the various sections of the people at Dosing became very indignant and called a meeting to discuss the matter, whereupon it was unani- mously resolved to send out a circular telegram de- nouncing the piratical activities of the British gunboat, and art the same time asking the government to make a strong protest. The local district Kuomintang and the anti-Japanese boycott committee have also sent out de- legates everywhere to give publicity to the affair and rouse up the people, so that imperialist penetration
may be overthrown.
Further developments will be duly reported.
